Best Music of '06: Two Ends of the Spectrum
- A Quiet 'Veneer' from Jose Gonzalez, NPR, 01.23.06Veneer is an exercise in simplicity, with a somber and contemplative tone deepened by an affinity for bossa nova and flamenco. At 27, Gonzalez has aligned himself with folk artists who operate under the belief that quiet truly is the new loud.
- Danity Kane, Teen Ink, 11.06The CD will stand in a high place in music history because of its pure musical perfection. The harmonies all fall into place to create a beautiful sound that intrigues not only the ear, but the mind. By mastering these essentials of music, Danity Kane sets itself apart from other groups.

I just find it really listenable. I can't quite explain it. I'm also amused by how much teen/tween reaction there is about the album. Kids have really passionate opinions about it.
Just like I did about New Edition and NKOTB. And nobody can tell me that Candy Girl or Mr. Telephone Man or Please Don't Go Girl or Hanging Tough have any more musical merit than Showstopper or Ride For Me.
I can understand that POV. But it still doesn't make it sound good to me. But then, I really like the Fergie project which you think is trash, if I remember correctly. Maybe pop music overall has lost its way. And in doing so, we are wandering down different paths.
