QotD: My Vox Name

Why the retirement?!? Bigger and better things, or burn-out?
I think Negroplease.com: The Blog has run it's course. In January, the site will be 5 years old. I've done a ton of identity forming through that space and have written just an awful lot about who I am, what I think and why I think it. I've also said a pretty high standard for myself there and there is a lot of pressure when I sit in front of the computer to write on negroplease.com. I don't just have friends who read what I write there, I have an audience with expectations.

At this juncture in my life, I don't feel the need to be that naked or have a quite so public persona.

It's just time to close that chapter.
Well, thanks for keeping it up as long as you have. I, for one, have enjoyed it.
I just wanted to say that I was one of your faithful readers of negroplease. Your style and wit had me was as comfortable as an italian leather sofa. I also found vox becasue of your mention in a post (i've been looking for something else becasue I'm not strung on myspace like other junkies like my girlfriend is..). So i understand your frustation and pressure you feel when you sit in front of your computer for posting to negroplease. I feel/felt the same way whenever I wrote my newsletter to my friends which they in turn forwarded to other people and I had a lot of feedback on it. Which was both positive and negative. So thank you for all of the hardwork and dedication you put into negroplease.com: The Blog.

Does that mean you're going to close the curtain on all of us who've followed you from NP?

Nah, I'll still be posting pretty regularly here. I love VOX. I also have plans for the negroplease.com domain (and the jasontoney.com domain I've been sitting on for years) as a public facing site for myself.

At VOX, the privacy controls will help me maintain the anonymity I need while still getting the "write" out.
