Summer Viewin'

Comments

For starters I have a nine-episode backlog of LOST on my DVR to watch. I'll probably do that all at once the weekend after the season ends. Then besides Big Brother--if it even airs this summer--I'll be using the TV down time to read books, and whack away at my Netflix queue.
someone else who watches the 4400, yay!
I'm most looking forward to Rescue Me's return after The Shield ends...
Big Love on HBO...and I guess I'll try their new shows..
I gave up on 4400 last year...I usually give the Big Bro house a shot till the people start working my nerves...
Oh...and The Closer, too...even though I still have that 2 hour special eppy from December on the DVR...still waiting to be watched.

The Closer, love it
The 4400, disappointing last year but I want to give it another shot
Big Love, really curious to see how they handle year 2
Rescue Me, on a very probationary basis

And I'll try most of the new offerings HBO is going to put out though the previews for them haven't gotten me excited.
I was never able to get in to Big Love during its first season despite all the positive reviews and word of mouth. What's the appeal?

Rescue Me got too depressing for me by the end of the first season. I haven't been back since.

I don't watch Big Brother. I just go to the Big Brother wrap party every year :-)

Anything else of interest this summer? I think I'll be spending a little more time with the Discovery and History channels. Any recommendations there?

Is anything on besides repeats?

History Detectives is a big hit with my boyfriend and his guy friends. Mystery Diagnosis on TLC is a bit creepy but it's incredible how these docs manage to diagnose people.

Corwin's Quest and Emergency Vets (E-vet interns is the new takeoff) on Animal Planet are very good.

We VEOH'd all the new Dr. Whos and we will be watching season 3 of Lexx as well.

It took at least 4-5 eppys of Big Love before I was hooked...but the main draw for me is the relationship b/w Bill and his wives....esp. with the talent involved.

Denis Leary deserves an Emmy for Rescue Me. Its that good. But yeah...too much bad shit happens to him...luckily the comedy balances it nicely.

As far as Discovery...I usually just check their Sunday evening lineup...usually when they premiere the biggies. Haven't heard much about the summer though....
Summer is a pretty dead season for TV for me. I don't watch Top Chef (of the Bravo reality competition series). The only show I'm waiting for is the return of My Boys on TBS.
I will watch Big Love. It's one of my favorites. I'll also try to watch some of the Grey's and Brothers and Sisters episodes I missed this season. And I can always watch repeats of Entourage.
So, TV is really lean right now but I have added Rob & Big (which is way funnier than it should be. I wanna hang with them) and I'm curious about Damages on TNT when it comes in July and Flash Gordon on Sci-Fi in August. So You Think You Can Dance has not disappointed in the slightest either.
