Reading Love is a Mix Tape has me thinking a lot about music and how I use it. In the iTunes age, I use smart playlists most of the time because of their ability to stay fresh but there was a time when I created mixes for everything. Now, when I make mix tapes, it is usually a laborious task that includes lots of rules and flow charts and secret directives because I'm trying to take a snapshot of a moment in my listening time instead of just, you know, thinking about songs that would make me wii box better.

This mix is essentially one for mopping floors and chasing dust bunnies. There are some rules about the music (tracks I'm likely to dance to can't live here) but most of the rules are about the listening: No shuffling. Unless under extreme circumstances, this mix can only be listened to once a day and any chores not completed by then get moved to the next day. Any time you don't make it to the end of the mix should be considered a success. Chores suck. Who wants to spend all day doing them?

The only track I'm not really sure about is "Apply Some Pressure" but it works enough for me doing work around the house and that's all I ask of this mix.

All I know about this track is that it's off a Michael White album released on Elektra that had a little radio play but for the most part had swam around in the sludge of obscurity until Peanut Butter Wolf mixed it in on his BadMeaningGood compilation.

I'm doing chores this morning and this is right in the pocket for that scrubbing the floors rhythm.
