The Hotel Cafe is where you go when <a href="http://www.nicharcourt.com/">Nic Harcourt</a> of KCRW likes you and Havnevik totally fits that mold. This track was a <a href="http://www.kcrw.com/music/programs/tu">KCRW &quot;Today&#39;s Tune&quot;</a> earlier this month and everytime&#160; it plays, I mistake her voice, momentarily, for <a href="http://www.imogenheap.co.uk/">Imogen Heap&#39;s</a>.<br /><br />On this track, &quot;Unlike Me,&quot; she tries to out-<a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Frou_Frou">Frou Frou</a> the lead Frau. It is reminiscent of &quot;Hide &amp; Seek&quot; in tempo and haunting rhythm but it is lighter. It has some of the whimsy of some of the more popular tracks off of Frou Frou&#39;s details.<br /><br />This is not a bad thing. I might have to pick up the full length <a href="http://www.amazon.com/Melankton-Kate-Havnevik/dp/B000N0QVGE">Melankton</a>. It&#39;s just some stripped down folk music with some soul undercurrents. There&#39;s little hint of his ability to create wonderful bombast (He&#39;s one of the key architects of my favorite Beastie Boys&#39; Album - &quot;Check Your Head&quot;) but the solid song creation is here. It&#39;s also quite raw and honest.
